Eco Committee
Friar's Grove is awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award!
We are very pleased to announce that our Eco-Committee at Friar's Grove Primary School have been successful in meeting the requirements for the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.
Eco-Schools reviewed our application and congratulated 'our whole school approach to the Eco-Schools programme'. Our action plan was found to be concise and attainable. They especially liked that our head teacher had agreed for all classes to have Eco-Afternoons showing total support for the programme across the school. These afternoons are dedicated to Eco related crafts, Eco-videos, litter-picking and other fun activities. Our Eco-Committee have used a wide variety of methods to keep their schoolmates and community up-to-date on their progress, including social media, newsletters, whole school meeting chaired by the Eco-Committee, and interviewing university students studying sustainability. Eco Schools acknowledged our efforts and stated 'It’s a great reflection of the philosophy of Friar’s Grove, well done Eco-Team for creating it! It has been a pleasure to read through your application, you are a wonderful ambassador for the Eco-Schools programme and we are delighted, without hesitation, to award you an Eco-Schools Green Flag with merit – congratulations!'
